I am an old school gamer, since I'm an old fart. There is no problems with that however. I grew up in the time when the SNES was ending and the N64 was on its out. I never had an original Game Boy, but I did have a Game Boy Colour. As much fun as my GBC was (I beat the crap outta that thing. I had to at least play it 30 min. per day).
WIth new technology, we've advanced to new and better things. The GameBoy Advanced (SP and Micro) came out soon after the N64 died and that box thing, the GameCube, launched. I love the GBA SP, due to it's awesome library of SNES games. However, I have played all the originals on the SNES, and I needed a bit more than playing Super Mario World with Mario now saying: Yahoo! Every time he gets a mushroom. I wasn't satisfied.
Then came the DS. That fat piece of junk it was. It was ugly, the screens were mega fail and it felt rather bulky and clunky in your hands. I played it at my friends house from time to time, and I thought it was SO bad, I didn't even bother to pick it up. I was behind on the latest handheld, but why wouldn't I? It was terrible! I was happy playing Wario Ware Twisted on my GBA SP.
July, four years after the DS FAT launched. I walked into the store and there it was. White, shiny, sexy, beautiful. The DS Lite. I was now in heaven. Brighter screens, awesome touch screen, mushy D Pad and SNES type buttons, and a mic. in the right damn spot. This was the shit. On that day I bought Mario Kart DS, and Animal Crossing, and I was in a heaven. Nintendo hit the damn ball outta the park with this one. Wi-Fi, two screens, touch screen, and a mic. It was sleek, and cool.
This is my favorite system of Nintendo, besides the SNES. Many of you are probably saying, wait Steve, the DSi has music! Yes, I know the DSi has a lot more junk than the DS Lite, but that's what it is. Junk. Unless that damn store gets better games, and the Music and Picture feature can be used "in-game". I'll like the DSi a bit more. It's an iPod Touch/ Phone wanna be. It needs to up it's game.
